Gynacology (and obstetrics)
The Ergolz-Klinik has had a gynecological department for many years. Planned caesarian sections can be undertaken however, natural birthing is not possible due to the structure of the clinic. A gynecology surgeon specialises in diseases of the ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus. Disorders of the external female sex organs are included in his work and it is also not unusual for the gynecologist to be concerned with illnesses of the male sex organs as part of the larger issue of family planning. The discipline of gynecology covers diseases of the female breast. We are all aware that the early recognition of changes to the female breast combined with an early operation and combined therapies or radiation therapy can very often lead to the full recovery of the patient. Refined operative techniques have lead to huge advances in breast surgery. It is only very rarely that an early diagnosed patient has a breast removed completely; in many cases it is possible to limit the surgery to removal of the tumour leaving the healthy tissue intact. Let us take this opportunity to repeat that lumps in the breast are not always malignant (cancerous). There are many benign cysts and tumours which should be treated early and disassociated from malignant tumours. E-mail: kontakt@ergolz-klinik.ch |
